Chinese-food lovers cast their votes in record numbers – Vancouver Sun

By Mia Stainsby

More than 11,000 votes were cast and the people have spoken. The
Diners’ Choice Awards portion of the 2011 HSBC Chinese Restaurant awards
were announced for various categories of Chinese food in Metro
Vancouver.

This is the portion of the awards where the public nominate their
favourites and the results generate buzz amongst restaurant-goers. We
welcome the discussions," says founding judging panel chair Stephen
Wong. " One of the best things about the Diners’ Choice Awards is that
since the public nominate the restaurants, I always learn about some new
place I hadn’t heard of before. With more than 600 restaurants in the
Lower Mainland, no one person can know them all. The Diners’ Choice
Awards are a great referral system to what is currently excellent."

Voting took place from October 6 to November 12, drawing about 2,000
more participants over last year. The winners will receive their awards
at the 2011 awards ceremony on Januatry 18.
