During<br \/>\nhis speech, Consul Li praised the growing success and contribution of<br \/>\nboth the Awards and the chefs.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;2013 is the year of reaching for<br \/>\nnew heights,&rdquo; said Craig Stowe, Chinese Restaurant Awards&rsquo; Founding<br \/>\nDirector. &ldquo;To further raise the public&rsquo;s awareness of the fine Chinese<br \/>\ncuisine existing in Canada, we must expand beyond the borders of<br \/>\nVancouver.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Greater Toronto, another bustling hub for Chinese<br \/>\nfood, was selected to be part of the Awards as a result. Four locally<br \/>\nacclaimed food critics and writers&mdash;Jen Chan, Jennifer Kwan, Ren&eacute;e S.<br \/>\nSuen, and Charles Yu&mdash;were invited to search for ten Critics&rsquo; Choice<br \/>\nSignature Dishes. <\/p>\n<p>Their expertise and experience with different<br \/>\nmedia outlets, such as Chowhound, Yelp, and Toronto Star, are invaluable<br \/>\nin developing a reliable new dining guide. One of their notable choices<br \/>\nis Richmond Hill&rsquo;s Omei Restaurant. The winner enticed the judges with<br \/>\ntheir different cooking methods used in Lobster Five Ways (Steamed,<br \/>\nStir-fried with Maggie Sauce, Deep Fried Lobster Legs, Steamed Egg<br \/>\nCustard with Lobster Brain, Fried Rice with Lobster Brain).<\/p>\n<p>In<br \/>\nGreater Vancouver, the Awards&rsquo; legacy continued with seven judges voting<br \/>\nfor the best dishes after a full year of tasting. The results, audited<br \/>\nby Pricewaterhouse Coopers LLP, highlight the diversity and popularity<br \/>\nof Chinese regional cuisines in the area. Top Shanghai Cuisine&rsquo;s Pan<br \/>\nFried Shanghainese Buns, a 2013 Diners&rsquo; Choice Awards winner, is also<br \/>\nvoted as a must-eat by the judges. Kirin Restaurant at City Square wowed<br \/>\nthe judges with three dishes&mdash;Deep Fried Boneless Chicken with Minced<br \/>\nPrawn, Glutinous Rice, and Chestnut Paste, Geoduck Two Ways, and Smoked<br \/>\nLive Lobster with Assorted Mushroom&mdash;making them a top winner in the<br \/>\ncategory. The new title, Greater Vancouver&rsquo;s Critics&rsquo; Choice Awards &#8211;<br \/>\nMost Awarded Chinese Restaurant, is bestowed upon Sea Harbour Seafood<br \/>\nRestaurant. From 2009-2013, the restaurant won eight Critics&rsquo; Choice<br \/>\nAwards with Signature Dishes such as Fried Squab (2009-2012) and<br \/>\nPan-fried Spot Prawns with Soy Sauce (2011-2012).<\/p>\n<p>Adding to the<br \/>\nexcitement of 2013 is the new Chinese Master Chefs (CMC) program. After<br \/>\nfive years of planning, the Awards selected Raymond Cheung (Landmark<br \/>\nHotpot House), Wing Ho (Fortune House Seafood Restaurant), Andy Liu (Sea<br \/>\nHarbour Seafood Restaurant), Wing Leung (Shiang Garden Seafood<br \/>\nRestaurant), Tong Luk (The Jade Seafood Restaurant), Timmy Tsui (Big<br \/>\nChef Restaurant), Tony Wu (Tin Tin Seafood Harbour) and Ming Yeung<br \/>\n(Bamboo Grove) as Master Chefs based on their winning records, worldwide<br \/>\nreputation, and continuous contribution to Greater Vancouver&rsquo;s culinary<br \/>\nlandscape. Their relentless effort in defining Chinese cuisine with<br \/>\ninnovative ideas has inspired a new generation of chefs and connected<br \/>\nthe Chinese community with other cultures.<\/p>\n<p>The CMC program wishes to share the Masters&rsquo; dishes recipes with the public on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ChineseMasterChefs.com\" target=\"_blank\">www.ChineseMasterChefs.com<\/a> .<br \/>\nA 90sec cooking demonstration of each chef&rsquo;s selected creations will be<br \/>\naired in March and April on OMNI Television&rsquo;s Cantonese and Mandarin<br \/>\nnews. All ingredients used in the recipes such as Alberta beef, Alberta<br \/>\nPork and B.C. seafood are available at Vancouver&rsquo;s PriceSmart<br \/>\nFoods&mdash;Chinese Master Chefs&rsquo; preferred store for fresh and affordable<br \/>\ningredients.<\/p>\n<p>The public is encouraged to experience the Master<br \/>\nChefs&rsquo; creations at their restaurants and participate in a charitable<br \/>\ntest drive at one of the three Dueck Auto Group&rsquo;s locations (Terminal<br \/>\nAvenue, Marine Drive, and Richmond in Vancouver).
