{"id":159,"date":"2010-09-30T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2010-09-30T07:00:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2010-09-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2010-09-30T07:00:00","slug":"Straight0930","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chineserestaurantawards.com\/archives\/Straight0930\/","title":{"rendered":"Voting starts for 2011 Chinese Restaurant Awards in Vancouver on Straight.com"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p>\n<span style=\"font-size: 8pt; color: #800080\"><br \/>\nBy Carolyn Ali<br \/>\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n<span style=\"font-size: 8pt\"><br \/>\nThe 2011 <a href=\"index.php\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"ext\">Chinese Restaurant Awards<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 8pt\"><br \/>\nkicked off on September 28 at Red Star Seafood Restaurant in Richmond.<br \/>\nThe awards are divided into two parts: diners&rsquo; choice and critics&rsquo;<br \/>\nchoice.<br \/>\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n<span style=\"font-size: 8pt\"><br \/>\nUntil October 5, the public can <a href=\"http:\/\/www.votedinerschoice.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"ext\">nominate<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 8pt\"><br \/>\ntheir favourite restaurants in 13 categories. The most popular choices<br \/>\nwill be included in the diners&rsquo; choice shortlist. New categories this<br \/>\nyear include Best Modern Chinese Restaurant and Best Hong Kong-style<br \/>\nMilk Tea.<br \/>\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n<span style=\"font-size: 8pt\"><br \/>\nDiners can cast their <a href=\"http:\/\/www.votedinerschoice.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"ext\"> votes<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 8pt\"> on the finalists from October 6 to November 12.<br \/>\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n<span style=\"font-size: 8pt\"><br \/>\nThe results will be announced at an awards ceremony on January 18, 2011.<br \/>\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n<span style=\"font-size: 8pt\"><br \/>\nThe Critics&rsquo; Choice segment involves a judging panel of restaurants<br \/>\nprofessionals and food writers, chaired by food writer and former<br \/>\nrestaurateur Stephan Wong. It includes Wenshi Guan of the Canadian Dim<br \/>\nSum Chefs&#8217; Association, William Tse of the Chinese Canadian Chef<br \/>\nAssociation, and Tony Kam of the Hong Kong Canada Chinese Chef Club. The<br \/>\npanel will select 24 signature dishes, also to be announced in January.<br \/>\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n<span style=\"font-size: 8pt\"><br \/>\nA Chef of the Year will be named for the first time this year.
