With the goal of demystifying Chinese cuisine in North America, the Awards program has been crafting annual restaurant guides based on its Critics&rsquo; Choice Awards and its Diners&rsquo; Choice Awards since 2008.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ChineseRestaurantAwards.com\/CRAmedia\/CRA2013launchrelease_eng.pdf\" target=\"_self\"><br \/>\nDownload press release and awards categories in pdf<\/a> <br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ChineseRestaurantAwards.com\/CRAmedia\/CRA2013judgesbio_eng.pdf\" target=\"_self\">Download critics&#8217; bios in pdf <\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n&ldquo;The mission that we set out to accomplish five years ago has become<br \/>\nan encouraging platform for Chinese chefs in Metro Vancouver to<br \/>\nexperiment with dishes that reflect on traditional flavours, while<br \/>\nincorporating new and innovative culinary ideas,&rdquo; says Craig Stowe,<br \/>\nChinese Restaurant Awards&rsquo; Founding Director. &ldquo;Their passions and<br \/>\ntalents are the driving force behind those chefs who participate in<br \/>\ncreating the dishes presented and those food critics who assess which<br \/>\ndishes are worthy of an award. Last year&rsquo;s increase in votes for the<br \/>\nDiners&rsquo; Choice Awards to 12,782 from 11,453 was an inspiring<br \/>\nachievement. This overwhelming public support propels us to chart new<br \/>\nterritories that befits Vancouver&rsquo;s reign as the Chinese gourmet<br \/>\ncapital, outside of China.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>In 2013, five new categories will be<br \/>\nadded to the Diners&rsquo; Choice Awards, for a total of eighteen categories.<br \/>\nThese five new categories include: Best Taiwanese Beef Noodle, Best<br \/>\nPan-fried Shanghainese Bun, Best B.C. Dungeness Crab, Best Stir-fried<br \/>\nEggs with Prawns, and Best Salt &amp; Pepper Pork Loin. The public&rsquo;s<br \/>\nenthusiastic participation in last year&rsquo;s categories of Best Xiao Long<br \/>\nBao and Best King Crab has inspired the changes in 2013. Each new<br \/>\ncategory has been decided based on the dish&rsquo;s reputation as being<br \/>\npopular or as a staple dish in a particular region in China or<br \/>\ncontaining an outstanding local ingredient for Chinese cuisine. Diners<br \/>\nare encouraged to nominate their favorite restaurants online from<br \/>\nNovember 5th to 14th, 2012 and to vote for the top twenty nominees from<br \/>\nNovember 15th, 2012 to January 4th, 2013. The winners will be announced<br \/>\non January 7th, 2013.<\/p>\n<p>The most anticipated Critics&rsquo; Choice Awards<br \/>\nto date will be announced in the awards ceremony on February 26, 2013<br \/>\nin the Show Theatre at the River Rock Casino Resort. This year&rsquo;s judging<br \/>\npanel is made up of seven prominent local food critics, including<br \/>\nStephen Wong and Lee Man, who are not only experts in the field of<br \/>\nChinese cuisine but also familiar with the history of Chinese Restaurant<br \/>\nAwards as they have been involved since its inception. The entire<br \/>\njudging panel has conducted tastings individually and together as a<br \/>\ngroup since the summer of 2012, sharing information and recommending<br \/>\npotential tasting destinations to each other. The dynamic of this<br \/>\njudging panel is built from five years of experience working together<br \/>\nwith the Chinese Restaurant Awards. The public is encouraged to give<br \/>\ntasting recommendations to the critics.
