Vancouver, February 25, 2019 – This is the moment all Metro Vancouver diners have been waiting for. Diners cheered and supported their favourite local Chinese restaurants at the 11th annual Diners’ Choice Awards, presented by China Eastern Airlines. Over 3,700 nominations were submitted for 22 categories and 32,796 votes were casted online and through WeChat voting app in the past 35 days. The voting period also coincided with the Chinese Lunar New Year celebration. This perfect timing allowed diners to explore the nominated restaurants with a festive flare, before casting their votes.<\/p>\n

Diners\u2019 Choice Awards, a major component of the Chinese Restaurant Awards, has been the much anticipated guide to represent the best of Chinese and Taiwanese cuisines in Metro Vancouver. Curated annually by local diners, Diners\u2019 Choice Awards is a complete and comprehensive guide that showcases the latest trends in the Metro Vancouver dining scene, which isn\u2019t just treasured by locals, but also appreciated by visitors who want a taste of the local insight. Over the years, Diners\u2019 Choice Awards has also become an index for the restaurant industry to elevate the quality of their food, service, and overall experience. That\u2019s the guide to be trusted.<\/p>\n

Highlights from this year\u2019s awards include the winners of three new iconic dish categories, the Best Dessert Restaurant, as well as the much-desired Best New Restaurant award and a new category \u2014 \u201cMost Voted Restaurant\u201d.<\/p>\n

As a collaboration with Vanpeople.com, the brand new “Most Voted Restaurant” Award honours HK BBQ Master, which has received 1022 votes in its category \u201cBest Cantonese BBQ Shop\u201d and the most votes while comparing with the winners of other categories. The enthusiasm reflected upon the number of votes has truly explained HK BBQ Master\u2019s consistency, quality offerings, and popularity among Metro Vancouver diners. This year is also their 9th time winning the category of \u201cBest Cantonese BBQ Shop\u201d.<\/p>\n

The \u201cBest New Restaurant\u201d recognizes the restaurant has an impressive first round in the Metro Vancouver dining scene. HaiDiLao Hotpot, the internationally well-known hotpot brand from China, has made a successful landing in the Metro Vancouver dining scene. Having been opened for just three months, they have already won the hearts of the majority of diners, which has set a perfect example of bringing world-class Chinese cuisine to Metro Vancouver.<\/p>\n

In addition to the celebrated winners, the second most voted in each category will be included in the \u201cHonorable Mentions\u201d list, offering more options for diners to extend their culinary journey.<\/p>\n

The winners and \u201cHonorable Mentions\u201d of the 2019 Diners\u2019 Choice Awards will be invited to attend the 11th annual Chinese Restaurant Awards Ceremony at River Rock Show Theatre on Tuesday, April 2nd. The result of the Critics\u2019 Choice Signature Dish Awards will be announced on the same day.<\/p>\n
