Lobster Mountains, Dim Sum and a Feast Worth Gathering For

Opened in 2022, Jumbo Lobster Restaurant in Richmond Hill is the sister restaurant to Scarborough’s well-known Fishman Lobster Clubhouse. Generous seafood platters and a vast dining room make it a natural choice for celebrations. This is a place to bring a group, order for the table and settle in for a proper feast.

The signature Sky-High Lobster Mountain makes quite an entrance. Pieces of fried lobster are piled high, arriving at the table in a display that usually brings conversation to a pause. Behind the dish is veteran chef Franky Yeung Pui-Kee, whose long career in Chiu Chow and Cantonese cooking provides the foundation for the restaurant’s generous approach to seafood.

Large live-seafood tanks line the dining hall, giving diners a sense of what the kitchen has to work with. The room has the bustle of a busy banquet restaurant, with impressive platters passing between tables and plenty of occasions being celebrated at once.

There is good reason to visit for dim sum, too. Silky rice rolls and crisp fried shrimp dumplings, known as ming ha gok, show the kitchen’s attention to smaller dishes. An unexpected addition is the in-house dry-aged steak, with cuts displayed in dedicated temperature-controlled cabinets. It gives diners another option alongside the seafood that made the restaurant’s name.
