Chopsticks to Vancouver Health Care Heroes #ChopstickstoHeroes
These are dark times, and the Greater Vancouver’s food and beverage industry has been one of the worst-hit by the COVID-19 disruptions. Chinese restaurants have even faced the large drop in sales since the end of January. Yet, when there’s darkness, there must be light.
Frontline health care workers have been working tirelessly throughout the pandemic. Local Asian restaurants have decided to band together and offer a bit of solace: a nutritious and satisfying meal. This campaign is also to relay the effort from restaurants that have already been donating meals.
With an inseparable relationship with the restaurant industry, Chinese Restaurant Awards has co-created the Chopsticks to Vancouver Health Care Heroes #ChopstickstoHeroes campaign with contributors and participating restaurants. The first donation, consists of 1,500 nutritious lunch meals with vegetarian options, was sent to health care workers at the Vancouver General Hospital this April.
We are grateful for the indefatigable and selfless efforts from health care heroes combating the pandemic. We’ll get through this together.

PLEDGE A DAY
April 24, 2020 – We will temporarily discontinue the online crowdfunding campaign on GoFundMe as we have received sufficient funding to run the meal donation to fulfil the previous immediate needs and requests from staff of hospital health care facilities which were/are at the fight of Covid-19 for the community.
April 3, 2020 – Due to overwhelming request and response, and also generous donation inquiry from public, we decided to launch “Pledge a Day” fundraising program of #ChopstickstoHeroes. General public can now support our efforts in providing food to the frontline health care heroes during this challenging time. The new initiative will also help the local restaurant industry. Keep them busy.
About “Pledge a Day“:
CAD 500 can help provide 100 emergency food box meals at one health care facility for one day.
Ways to contribute
– You can crowdfund with your friends and families to come up with an amount of CAD 500. Contact the Awards when you reach the goal. You can pay the restaurant directly.
