The 5th
Annual Chinese Restaurant Awards was celebrated once again at the River
Rock Show Theater this year. Promoting the best of the Chinese food
culture in Metro Vancouver, delighted guest was greeted before the award
presentation with samples of award winning dishes from our talented
local chefs.
Hosted by Breakfast Television’s Dawn Chubai and OMNI Television’s
Sunny Chiu, the award ceremony commenced with the announcement of the
overwhelming success of the event this year. Craig Stowe, Chinese
Restaurant Awards Founding Director and Consul Li Yue of Overseas
Chinese Affairs at the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of
China in Vancouver both gave an inspiring speech, praising the
development of fine Chinese cuisine here in North America.
Representatives from different sponsoring and partnering companies
then presented awards to the many winners of the evening. AX3 Director,
Shun Lee, had the honour of presenting the award to the best Vegetarian
Restaurant to 3G Vegetarian Restaurant.
A new award this year, the Critics’ Choice Most Awarded Chinese
Restaurant 2009-2013 was presented to Sea Harbour Seafood Restaurant as
they have won a total of 8 Critics’ Choice Awards, with signature dishes
including Steam Live Sablefish in Bamboo Steamers (2009), Braised
Chayote with Minced Pork and Preserved Vegetables (2012) and Deep Fried
Pumpkin Sticks with Egg Yolk Sauce (2013).
Another new addition to the event this year is the Chinese Master
Chefs program where selected Master Chefs share their signature
creations’ recipe with the public for charitable causes. Take a look at
