The Chinese Restaurant Awards Association, a Metro Vancouver-based
Chinese cuisine promoter, on Wednesday celebrated 50 signature dishes
and 45 favourable restaurants selected from hundreds of competitors in
this area, reportedly the best place outside China for Chinese dining.
In a grand awards ceremony, the non-profit organization unveiled 50
winners for the Critics’ Choice Signature Dish Awards, with which
Chinese Restaurant Awards reward Chinese restaurants. The dishes were
divided into 25 categories, spanning everything from dim sum, noodle to
congee, beef, duck, hot pot and vegetarian dishes, each with a gold and
a silver award.
They have been chosen anonymously by a panel of Chinese food critics
with Chinese or Caucasian background, who seek out restaurants
recommended by word of mouth or by the reputation of the chef.
