THE ELITE 15: CHINESE RESTAURANT AWARDS ANNOUNCES ITS FIRST RANKED LIST OF CHINESE RESTAURANTS IN ASIA
The awards were announced at a special ceremony on October 29, 2025 in Vancouver, Canada
The Chinese Restaurant Awards is proud to announce the winners of its inaugural Elite 15 Asia Awards, revealed live at The Vancouver Club on October 29, 2025. Now in its 16th year, this milestone marks the first time the CRA has ranked Chinese restaurants across both Asia and Canada, celebrating culinary excellence and the chefs shaping the global future of Chinese gastronomy.
“This list is more than a ranking,” says Rae Kung, Managing Director of the Chinese Restaurant Awards. “Together with our panel of 15 Taste Advisors across Asia, we believe it represents a reflection of Chinese culinary cultural confidence — a statement that our cuisine, in all its depth, creativity, and refinement, rightfully stands among the world’s most respected.”
“We are honoured to present the first ranked list of Chinese restaurants in Asia,” adds Agnes Chee, Chair of the Asia Judging Panel and one of the most influential voices in Chinese culinary culture across the region. “Chinese cuisine continues to evolve — rooted in heritage yet driven by innovation and exchange. The Elite 15 Asia list celebrates this dynamic spirit, honouring those who preserve tradition while inspiring new expressions of gastronomy.”
Drawn from the Top 30 Honourees announced earlier in September, the Elite 15 Asia Awards are curated by a distinguished panel of Michelin-starred chefs, cultural leaders, entrepreneurs, financiers, and artists across major Asian cities. Each honouree was selected through a confidential judging process assessing the overall dining experience, technical mastery, and the chef’s ability to express regional character with modern sophistication.
The inaugural list highlights the regional diversity of Chinese cuisine. Hong Kong leads with six restaurants, reaffirming its role as the cultural and culinary hub of regional Chinese dining in Asia — a city where multiple traditions flourish beyond its Cantonese roots. Among them, Xin Rong Ji Hong Kong (No. 8) exemplifies the refined artistry of Taizhou cuisine, while Yong Fu Hong Kong (No. 9) brings the elegant flavours of Ningbo to an international audience. Shanghai follows with three award-winning restaurants, led by Meet the Bund (No. 4) — a distinctive establishment spotlighting Fujianese cuisine, underscoring how Chinese culinary heritage transcends geography and style.
The panel also recognised three distinguished honours in Asia’s Chinese culinary world:
- Master Chef of the Year, awarded to a pioneer whose artistry sets the benchmark for excellence;
- Dim Sum Chef of the Year, recognising mastery in the timeless craft of dim sum; and
- Rising Star Chef of the Year, spotlighting emerging talents whose passion signals the bright future of Chinese gastronomy.
This year, the Rising Star title is shared by two outstanding chefs, following a rare tie in the final round of voting — a testament to the exceptional calibre of new-generation talent shaping Chinese cuisine in Asia today.
